At age 14, Zeal's first job was drawing portraits and caricatures in Busch Gardens Amusement Park in Williamsburg, Virginia. After Highschool, she acquired a BFA at Howard University, Washington D.C. where she studied theater, art, and make-up design.
After beginning to work in theater, film, and television, she entered into UCLA graduate film school. While there, she took a painting class and decided to leave film school and later apply to Graduate Art programs. She received an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design.
Zeal's art is vividly colorful in palette and in characters. She has an edgy sense of humor while exploring taboo socio-poltical isses, historical topics, and daily life. Her work is usually autobiographical or illustrates second-hand, personally collected stories.
