How Chico became Happenchance Pt 5
Posted January 26, 2013
I wasn’t sure I was ready for another cat when Chico came to me because I was still hoping Shakespeare would appear at the door. But a year had passed and there was no sign of Shakespeare ever coming back so I took Chico in because his mother was dieing of cancer and he needed a home. I didn’t know what he looked like or anything about him except that he was fixed and declawed and had never been outdoors. Chico had lived in Toronto on the 12th floor and had never been outside. When Chico a...

Shakespeare was my baby, he was the only cat I ever had raised from a kitten. He would make me laugh all the time with his antics. He was such an actor that is why I named him Shakespeare. Hanging upside down and looking at you. Jumping all over the place. He was the most loving of all my cats. When he first arrived I told him no way you are sleeping in my bed with me because I don’t like cat hair in my bed. Well that very first night he jumped up onto my bed, put his little head onto my pi...

Vincent was originally called Boots when he came to me because of these 4 white socks on his feet. He would cry like a little baby when you tried to clean his ears. I called him Vincent because when he first arrived he ran into my art room and proceeded to peruse all the art on the walls, so Vincent Van Gogh came to my mind and I named him Vincent. Spunky was named by Little David my nephew because Spunky was originally his cat and by chance through a set of circumstances he became mine. It was an appropriate name for him because he had a real attitude about him. He did not want to fight but he would fight if he had to and he could fight he was strong and muscular. He was a biter and would bite people unexpectedly, where he picked this bad habit up I do not know. Spunky had a spot on his nose and was white and gray in color, did not lik...

I have owned 4 cats in my lifetime and each and every time one of them leaves for whatever reason I miss them dearly and cannot forget them. Each of them had over time became a great companion and friend to me and each just like people had their own little quirks and special ways. My four cats were Joshua, Spunky, Vincent and Shakespeare. Joshua got his name because he had the sweetest most peaceful little spirit of any cat I have ever had and just like in the movie Roots I took him out under...

Pg 57 cont’d from pg 56 Well this is an update on Little Lucky Jack who was born with no wings. Little Lucky Jack the giant silk moth with no wings….seems to be saying to me, “Hey I’ve got no wings…but I can still fly in my mind”. After all that he has been through I think he deserves a chance to mate…..so when I got up this morning I noticed 5 other male Polyphemus moths on the side of the house so tonight I will lay him on the window sill outside and and if a female comes by ...

NO WINGS The Adventures pg 56
Posted June 02, 2012
Well I certainly thought this story would end here, but it seems a very unfortunate thing has occurred….Lucky Jack emerged but to my great dismay he has been born without wings. He simply can not be released into the night because he cannot fly. This saddens me greatly as I only had two cats survive out of all that I started with the rest died before entering the cocoon stage from some mysterious illness with only the two smallest surviving Lucky Jack and Miracle Baby. Here is poor l...

Pg53 cont’d from last August 2011 and pg 52 when my two cats went into their cocoons for the winter. To read the beginning of this story you must search for pg 1 and up to pg 53 today’s date. What a delightful surprise. My two surviving cats emerged today, May 31, 2012. Lucky Jack and Miracle Baby ...two male giant silk Polyphemus moths were born. They have come on a long precarious journey and have made it this far which is quite miraculous. Miracle Baby was out drying his wings wh...

I went into the city on Tuesday morning of August 23 and when I came back Wednesday night my two surviving cats were not in the mesh bag. I was totally upset until I realized they had cocooned. I found one nestled between two leaves but the other one was nowhere to be found. I frantically searched for him for about 1 ½ hours. I cut every leaf off the branches one by one and inspected each one for a cocoon ….but to no avail….he was not there. I looked down on the ground where I ...

Cont’d from page 47 Here is a picture of Lucky Jack showing off his legs and shaking off his shyness. (Maybe Jack is really Jackie.) Here you can see his/her 3 pairs of Thoracic legs under the jaws, 4 pairs of abdominal prolegs beneath those, and one pair Anal prolegs in that order. I am happy to say that right now both surviving cats are doing very well. I still miss Baby Polly, Tightrope Walker and Alien Baby but I was lucky to still have these two. To be cont’d

Cont’d from pg 45 and pg 1 On Aug 8th I took this picture of Miracle Baby. You can see from the photo that he/she is doing very well. he is a vibrant healthy green color and eating like crazy. His body looks well hydrated. He is growing and almost the size of my thumb now. His comrade in arms Lucky Jack is also doing well although Lucky Jack is a lot smaller than miracle baby and does not like to have his photo taken. I have moved them out into a maple tree and have them cover...

Cont’d from page 44 Here is my first picture of Lucky Jack one of the two surviving cats that did not die when all the others did. He is very shy as you can tell from this picture. I am very happy to report as of today Miracle Baby and Lucky Jack are doing very well. I hope they make it To the cocoon stage and beyond. To be continued.
