Stephen Shugart began painting in 2012. He has been a creative writer for 30 years trying to paint images with words in his short stories and novels. He has been published in the Madison Review, Paraspheres, the Colorado Review and other literary magazines. He is also a produced playwright. He is an experienced college and university educator and and is presently instructional design consultant for his day job. Stephen now ventures into painting, moving away from words to explore his artist vision in this, direct, non-language new medium/genre/field. His son, Peter Shugart, is a visual artist. Stephen has held a longstanding interest in modern and contemporary art and artistic vision in its expression of various forms. He has developed a deep knowledge of the artistic process, contemporary art, and modern art..
