Soirsce Moriarty Kastner began taking adult-level painting and drawing classes at the Peninsula Art School in Fish Creek, Wisconsin at the age of 11. A home-schooled student, she was fortunate to have the opportunity to enroll in a formal studio program at the Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art in 2005, where she attended until 2008. During the past year, she lived and worked in Kewaunee as a full-time art student, focused on representational painting and drawing under the direction of Craig Blietz.

"I enjoy painting objects or people that have an energy or liveliness about them," she explains. "I use oil paints, and I paint in the style of impressionistic realism. I am highly influenced by several Russian and Chinese figurative painters, as well as J. W. Waterhouse, John Singer-Sargent and my mentor Craig Blietz."

Her works have been displayed at the Miller Art Museum's annual High School Salon of Art and she was awarded top honors all four years she exhibited in the shows. Her works were the first figure studies ever displayed by a young artist in this particular exhibit, leading the way for traditional figurative work to be included from that time forward.

She has also shown and sold her works in the Annual Guenzel Gallery New Year's Gala. In June 2008, she won a Juror's Award at the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts 46th Annual Juried Exhibit. Her work has also been featured at Barnsite Gallery in Kewaunee, Wisconsin at the Academy Gallery in Fish Creek, Wisconsin and in the Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art Show at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Solo exhibitions include a show in Ephraim, Wisconsin at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Gallery in October 2008.

Soirsce Moriarty Kastner lives and paints in Fish Creek, Wisconsin and plans to spend the winter living and painting at her studio in Shanghai, China. She speaks Mandarin and intends to pursue further studies of traditional Russian-influenced Chinese painting methods in China.
