I am just getting started in the art business and I wondered if you can tell me how you started and where you sell? Any advice? I appreciate any help.
I tried getting into galleries in a nearby large city but had no luck. So I backtracked and started showing locally at art festivals and joined a local art guild which had shows a few times a year. Gradually I built up a following and am now expanding into surrounding counties to show and hopefully sell work. The internet has been helpful with making sales and somehow being seen by a publisher (working on a children's book now).
Know that it can take awhile to get noticed. If you want to show in galleries, go check them out first before submitting work. If you are seeking publishers, I really don't know what to tell you. I've sent in submissions before with no replies from the publishers. The only luck I've had is being seen on the internet (I think I said that already). An agent might be a good idea (I think I will be looking into one for myself). Good luck to you!!!
