I am a 25 year old female artists working out of a great collective of creative types in the artist buildings of NorthEast Minneapolis Minnesota. Art has been the one thing that has been constant through my 'growing-up' years, our location as a small family unit ventured from state to state following my fathers personal development- it is this transient adoption and the exposures to varied enviroments that drives the undercurrent to much of my work.
This past July a month and a half after my 25th birthday I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, the following four months I was out of work and in and out of the hospital after sustaining a persistent infection after the surgery. The fallout of the infection has left me unable to feel my hands-or more specficially be able to sense the difference between parts of my limbs making simple things like typing very hard or most importantly to me- painting. The second week of November 2011 offered a gracious gift- the nerve damage the suspected may be permanent is in fact not going to be it is rather a symptom of swelling still occuring in my brain which when controlled should allow my hands to be functionable again with some physical therapy. I am painting when I can little bits at a time and am thankful when I can manage an hour or two without dropping my brush over and over. This has been and continues to be a humbling and wonderful experience, I am feeling the universe and those alive within it in a way I have not felt since I was a child. I am overwhelmed and quite happily so.
Each time I sell a print or original work I will be donating 10% of the proceeds to The Ovarian Cancer Research Group for Young Women at the University of Minnesota. They are doing some truly beneficial and positive work and I feel as though I need to do whatever I can to help inform and support younger women in taking charge of their health. I was the young college renegade refusing to pay for insurance under the assumption I was young and healthy I would justify it with like, 'hey, I can ride my bike 40 miles a day no problem'. I was blessed by the circumstance that lead me to discover I had a tumor, but if happenstance wouldn't have happened I honestly would be in Stage 3 with no ability to recover even at a young age.
Every piece I have up on this site is available for purchase unless noted as 'sold'. I have a asking price under each image, and if you are interested please email me directly at: seraphiamarts@yahoo.com. All paintings would be shipped securely through FedEX with a tracking number and being that I am an employee shipping is minimal. I am in the process of putting up an 'etsy' site as well as configuring a set up on this site so people can purchase small, medium, and large prints of each piece as well. If you are interested in this you can certainly send me an email and I can let you know as soon as I get it situated.
