Operating from the confines of a little red room, Los Angeles-based artist Mina Nikkhoo puts herself to work. Often referring to herself as a “creepy kid,” she takes pride in her love for art, fashion, music, and things pertaining to the Gothic subculture. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Mina shifted her focus from ruling the world, to entering the world of design, a pursuit which led her to explore many creative outlets which include (but are not limited to): fashion design, theater costume, illustration, and tattooing. While such pursuits have currently divided her attention, they have both strengthened and broadened her perspective as an artist. While some artists have a more intuitive approach to their work, Mina prefers to draw quietly in her sketchbook, expressing herself through visual experimentation. Her perfectionist nature prevents most concepts from reaching a canvas but her attention to detail and lust for photorealism keep her moving forward.
