This is an amazing portfolio Norman, I wasn't aware this work was still done. It's gorgeous and looks painstaking. Thanks very much for the visits and stars. Truly appreciated, cheers.
Thank you very much for your visit Chris, for your kind words and all the stars! Well, this kind of art got indeed out of fashion with the invention of printing about five hundred years ago. I don't know how many people still practise this art of book illustration. Probalbly I'm one of a bunch of a "happy few"... and of course one has to work painstakingly (very often the emphasis is on the syllable "pain"). One has to do a lot of research, it's a whole world of its own, very interesting.
Your artwork is also really fascinating, Chris. You have some pieces which I really love!
Norman, thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your comments and the stars. You have some really great pieces!
Hi Norman, thanks a lot for the stars and the visit. You have a beautiful and exceptionally well crafted portfolio of work
Thanks for all the stars!!!!
You're welcome :-). All your works of art are magnificent, but my favourites are definitely your pen & inks.
Thank you for the stars - still enjoying finding my way around here and enjoying every minute of it!
You are very welcome, your art is great! ...I'm happy to hear that you enjoy my site so much and I hope you are not getting lost in this art work labyrinth of mine ...
Not quite lost, just delighted to see the traditional expression alive and well! Incorporating present and past...love it. What type of medium do you use - tempera?
I use liquid acrylics. They are very efficient and I can use them on rag paper and vellum as well. I can also handle them with marten hair brushes, reed pens and goose quills. Normally I mix them to achieve colour tones which resemble medieval colours.
Thank you for the lovely stars Norman! Much appreciated! And welcome to Blue Canvas! I'm new too. Very friendly place!
You're most welcome, Meg. Your art deserves the stars. ... and thank you for the warm welcome too. You're right 'bluecanvas' is a lovely place, indeed. A friend told me about it and I'm really happy I joined. Have a great day and keep up your great art! Norman
