Thanks for the stars John! Your artwork is incredible; it's apparent in your work what a great understanding of the human form you have!
Your life choices ring similar to DaVinci's studies of the human body. Thorough training, indeed. All the best w/warm aloha.
Thanks for the star. I really enjoy your handling of the media, and your understanding/portrayal of the forms while maintaining the "person"-ality of the models!
uh-mazing work. love it. i have often thought about forgetting art school for the time being, and thinking about getting into cadavers in the medical field to help me draw better. love that you did that, and i am curious how you went about doing that?
I just happened to know a vice-chancellor at Pitt at the time. He introduced me to the head of the medical dept. They gave me free and total access to the facility. It was a proving matter with the dept head to be able to work on a cadaver though. I spent 3 months there drawing bones/muscle and memorizing their names to get his attention. Then he let me dissect with the med students. And thank you much
wow that is so awesome! i am envious, i dont wanna go to medical school just for that, i wonder if the college i went to has classes like that, cause i know alot of the teachers. im gonna look into....thanks and keep up the uh=mazing work
I have never heard of any art schools that have had access to human cadavers at their institutions. The med schools have programs/incinerators to take care of discarded human material. People donate their bodies to science, but I have also never heard of donating your body to art.
prettymorbidity, you may want to look into school for medical illustrators. Our computer lab person when I was in grad school was one, I think she may have gone to school in Dallas? not sure about this or if there are even schools for illustrators any more. Good luck!
I looked into medical illustration as a profession some time ago and found that human anatomy work is a very small percentage of their output. It takes a different kind of person to do that sort of work. There is no freedom to do artwork.
I can only imagine that since my interest in MI was pre computer in origin, that much of the work being done today is CGI.
excellent work john, very well done
ryan, I appreciate all of the stars and comments. You are the first person that commented on the missing model props. Thank you
