thank you for taking the time to Look over my work ! i thank you for the kind words of encouragement and all the stars!
Thank you so much for the stars, especially the comments.. much appreciated. :D Just looking at your incredibly luminous and colorful thumbnails of your numerous art works, has set my eyes on looking at it all! what paints do u prefer when painting.. oils or acrylics? I use acrylics often because they are cheaper.
You're very welcome! As for paints, I rarely use acrylics, and only then on paper. I paint almost exclusively in oils because of their luminous qualities and their forgiving nature. Painting in oils can be almost like sculpting, there is a three-dimensional "feel" that I love. I've painted in oils for nearly 40 years, since I was a kid.
That is amazing... Interesting that you find Oils forgiving, because I find arcylics forgiving also and luminous.. but that is probably because I shelac my paintings to bring out the richess and depth of all the colors once I finish a painting.
I frequently finish a canvas and tell it "paint yourself!" The subtleties of coloration and the unexpected magic of oils makes me treasure this medium. It's very likely owing to familiarity with the medium, but I like the viscous texture of oils -- buttery in winter, smooth and fast as flowing water in the summer. Bending to the palate knife or spreading in unexpected nuances with the brush. Oils are magic and, provided one does not arrive with preconceived notions of the end product, the painting is unveiled in the laying down of paint and during the long period of its drying. I have seen some very lovely works in acrylics -- a relative of mine paints almost exclusively in acrylics using a batik approach to create a "stained glass" effect that is very appealing and has sold many paintings for her. Since I paint to please myself rather than others, I will continue my love-affair with oils . . . :-)

Thank you very much for a stars :)
