Welcome to my Canvas!
My name is Chris Lobo and I have a passion for creating art. What kind of art you may say? For those visiting for the first time, off to the right side under “My Artwork” you will find various categories of the types of mediums and subject matter I have worked with. I have used many mediums up to date, but my first medium of choice was and still is the graphite pencil, particularly the 2B pencil, which can be used to achieve a great variation of shades. The 2B pencil was used for the majority of my elementary and high school years because it was a convenient inexpensive drawing tool. Creating a graphite rendering was and still is something I love to do and though a coloured rendering is beautiful and dramatic, I saw in my own work that graphite renderings can be equally striking and pleasing to the senses.
There was a time I used clay extensively and fell in love sculpting 3D structures that I would normally draw on paper. Today I am still in love with the idea of turning my 2D drawings into 3D forms. When I land myself a better job I am really hoping to get back into sculpting by renting a studio. Today I work more with acrylic paint, but have always kept graphite rendering in the loop of mediums I love to use. If there was a subject matter I love the most, it would have to be celestial sunsets, along with futuristic landscapes. Many of my close friends would attest that my signature subject matter in my paintings is space. The subject matter with my graphite work is often architectural with themes such as future, apocalyptic and fantasy.
Creating art in my life was greatly influenced by post-secondary studies and it was a profound experience. A profound experience because I learned more about myself and how to work when faced with intense deadlines that often fell close to each other. I learned to let go of spending too much time on details, because at the end of the day it was about delivering on time with all the clients needs and wants addressed, sourced and proposed in an orderly and attractive fashion. I am proud to say that I have accomplished my Interior Decorating Diploma and now look to pursue a career relating to design. I personally see myself consulting with clients and assisting them with their decorating needs, but also promoting real art from the community in homes of people who don’t have time to find art that‘s right for them.
While I pursue a career relating to Interior Decorating and/or landscaping my heart is still set on one day having a major art exhibition of my work. I do hope to share more and more new art for you to enjoy and with that I will leave you with these words, Imagination should not go unrecorded. It must be translated into a physical form. It is a gift to the viewer as an opportunity to journey into the artist’s world!
Thank you for visiting my Canvas!
