Your portfolio is simply fabulous...I'm an Hematology/Oncology nurse clinician and I work with children with Sickle Cell Disease...a lot of your images really touch me...will definitely return!
Thank you. My paintings are about children, drawing viewers into their world through their eyes and expressions, where I believe they find not just a child but God..who heals the viewer as the viewer connects with the children. As a psychotherapist and Christian, I found that people who were ill and dying most often cited their moments of unconditional love for others as their life's most important achievements (!) All the rest didn't matter, once they knew they would be leaving this world. So, I try to point my viewers in that direction, using children, their simplicity, their willingness to trust, their desire to love and be loved to heal the viewers. If you want to print any of the images for the children and their families, just ask me. I'll send them to you, or provide a link to a website where you can download a printable version. No charge.

Thank for the comment. I think you influence from Degas is apparent in your work. I'm still trying to find a strong cohesion within my own work, but I suppose that comes with time and practice.
Idea for you and your classes to consider: My equation in my Apprentice Program is "good technique + your spirit = art that transcends decoration. I ask my students to identify their favorite artists/techniques by culling hundreds of photos off the internet/magazines, then seeing the patterns of what grabs their attention most frequently. Next I ask them to copy 2-3 of them @ 1/2 hour each until they can paint their style from memory, ending up with 4/day x 2 weeks per artist they are copying. Next they paint in series, which draws their inner vision/spirit from them as they try to make each image different, drawing on the technique they learned so well by studying the work of their favorite artists. Their own style emerges. Hope my 2 cents helps a little. Gary
