About me

I begin with subjects that matter. A subject must "mean" something. “Artists are mirrors, and our communication method is pictures.” My inspiration comes from life and it's perverse insanity, I express a somewhat bitter view on the world, which lurks between the lines. Provocation is always an important element, "Art MUST move you to either hate it or love it, never bore you. That's the worst you can say about a piece."
My style reflects images trapped in their "lines", the lines signifying bars of a jail and their life. The subjects are in situations beyond the their control. Images trapped in themselves. My goal is through psychological insight; narrative power; stylistic accomplishment; to force the viewer to speculation and suspicion.
Influenced by Albrecht Dürer's engravings, and extending, adapting and updating the Dürer process, I interpret it in the light of the contemporary spirit. My illustration links the past, the present and the future.
Through the years I have refined my visual lexicon and aim my work at collector's looking to shakeup their collection.

My preferred method is pen and ink, drawing the image first in pencil on crescent board, and then create the form using a quill. But most important is the idea, “What am I going to draw that will shake up the viewer.”
