Muted Dreams offers an immersive exploration of the simplicity of a naturalistic balance, and the push and pull struggle within society as it moves unquestioningly forward from that balance. The exhibition offers a range of paintings, sculpture and screen prints from the artist.
A 2003 graduate from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Shawn's work has been featured in exhibitions in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and France. He worked as an art director, designer and skateboard illustrator but has since left those positions to pursue his art and travel endeavors.
“I find myself painting around a general theme, which encompasses societal pressures pushing from a simple balanced life. I feel that this rings true for me after leaving my job in 2008. I have to live off of a much lower income now and am much happier for it. I feel mostly pulled in or connected with the craft and technique of my work. I am not overly involved with imprinting my opinion on others; therefore I do not enjoy overly intellectualizing my pieces. I find it much more fulfilling hearing the stories and direction developed by the viewer.â€
