La Jolla, August 11, 2012 – Imaginative depictions of urban life invade the mind of artist Jordan J. in his new series titled “Lost Objects.” On show at Thumbprint Gallery from July 14, these works capture the lost ideas that are scattered throughout Jordan J.’s imagination, once materialized these objects reveal intriguing futuristic architectural spaces and from floating cities to trams suspended from trailing cables.
This exhibition “Lost Objects” is “a combination of everything that gets lost in [his] head but eventually makes its way out to the real world.” Jordan J. draws his inspiration from the urban landscapes and architecture that surrounds him everyday. Stimulated by reality, the artist quickly deconstructs and remodels real forms into futuristic architectural forms, products of the artist urban imagination.
In his most recent works Jordan J. uses vintage frames to juxtapose the urban images on his canvases, in keeping with the concept of a forgotten object. These discarded and restored frames add a certain aesthetic elegance to his urban techniques. The artist’s new paintings feature everything from acrylic paintings, mixed media pieces, tattoo flash to watercolor illustrations. This dynamic use of so many materials allows Jordan J. to express each “Lost Object” differently, opening his work to a broad range of viewers, whilst his urban style maintains complete and cohesive body of work.
With plenty of experience in the urban art environment, namely interning for urban contemporary artist Doze Green, Jordan J. has developed an individual and refined technique and subject matter. According to the artist, he has traveled through “a whirlwind of defining my style & honing in on what I do best and while exploring I've realized that my work can branch out into many different styles and approaches.”
Jordan J.’s show “Lost Objects” will be on show at Thumbprint Gallery, August 11 until September 2, 2012. The opening begins at 5pm and runs until 10pm on Saturday, August 11.
