SECOND RECEPTION: Southern Style: Art by Tocayo and Nick McPherson

For those who missed out on the opening reception, we are having a second reception for Tocayo and Nick McPherson. Complimentary beverages will be served. TOCAYO: Juan Marante, AKA Tocayo, spent his youth in Cuba and Miami before moving to San Diego. The artist has been a freelance designer since 2003 and has worked for many companies including Rip Curl worldwide. His paintings contain rich stories of distinct cultures and heritages that he has experienced. Tocayo’s style shows a strong influence from pop art and comic book artworks. He often depicts influential musicians and leaders, Cuban and Mexican culture and, since moving to San Diego, the Pacific Ocean and the local urban and Mexican influenced culture. NICK MCPHERSON Since moving to San Diego in 2005, Nick McPherson has continued a hardworking routine of professional illustrator by day and a painter by night. Originally from Cleburne, Texas, McPherson has a dynamic style that combines his illustrative background and artistic spontaneity. His works are free of social and political dialogues and therefore have a fun and comical style. McPherson’s works are never void of dynamic images and vibrant colors which bring his canvas alive.
