Spontaneous and intimate artistic expressions are revealed through the dynamic possibilities of performance art. “ASSORTED ARRANGEMENTS: A Night of Eclectic Artistic Performances,” at Thumbprint Gallery on May 5, presents three distinct contemporary performances by Jessica Hirst, Dylan Barmmer and Patricia Maldonado. Jessica Hirst will be presenting an expressive Avant guard art performance. Typically Hirst works with performance, video, photography, writing, installations, and assemblage. She currently lives and works among Barcelona, San Diego, and Washington, and has presented her work all over the world including Spain, France, England, Serbia, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Spoken word performer, Dylan Barmmer is the raconteur and founder of Word Is Born and the self-proclaimed Poet Laureate of Facebook. When he's not waxing Poetic online, he is out in The Real World committing Random Acts of Poetry, hiking or practicing Yoga (he is also known as The Mad Yogi Poet). Barmmer has self-published two Spoken Word albums, and his work has appeared in the pages of The San Diego Poetry Annual, LA Yoga Magazine, Elephant Journal and The Poetry of Yoga. Patricia Maldonado was born in Guatemala City where she attended the Guatemalan School of Modem Dance, and then joined the Government Dance Company for eleven years. She has an MA in Performance Studies at the New York University and a BA in Dance at UCRiverside. Maldonado has performed and choreographed for a wide range of dance companies and taught modern dance workshops in many different countries including Spain, Guatemala, Venezuela, Mexico and the United States. In 2010, she started her group MALDODANZ presenting her work at the event “Patterns” presented by Thumbprint Gallery. The show begins at 7pm and runs until 10pm on Saturday May 5, 2012. Thumbprint Gallery is located at 920 Kline Street #104, La Jolla. There is no dress code and no cover.
