I believe, just as in life - art is a journey. One where everyone travels a slightly different path; for no two artists create exactly the same piece and no two viewers see exactly the same things. "Art is the collaboration of both the artist and the viewer." My journey has taken many different paths over the years, but the one thing that has remained constant has been my love of art and my desire to create. This love of art began after moving out in the country when I was about 8 years old. Whether it was the fresh air and wide open space or just my memory kicking in, I don't know. I continued my creative talents through the years by drawing, writing poems, making different crafts, etc. but the thought of pursuing it in college never crossed my mind until a few years into college. I started out in Graphic Design, which I liked, but always felt cheated using the computer! I wanted to get my hands dirty!! This promped me to change to Fine Arts instead and I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. My main area of interest lies in painting and drawing, of course, but during the past couple years, I have started working more with photography/ mixed media and hope to do more with it in the future. Jewelry making has also been an interest of mine for several years. Over this past year, I have started creating pieces to sell. I find it wonderful and amazing how a pile of mixed beads can transform into a beautiful piece of jewelry! I believe everyone has a creative spark of somekind and if you have the desire, you will find just the right fuel to ignite it!
