Always being a lover of the arts and interested in any new hobby or project that got my creative juices flowing, I was excited to share in a doodling exercise with my friend, Tina. She had bought a book about creative doodling and one exercise in particular caught my eye. With eyes closed, one would put pen to paper and draw a mass of scribbles after which would be filled in with shapes and patterns until a total piece emerged. I loved this! I started with regular ink gel pens and a sketch pad then quickly used artist pens and pencils to create themed pieces. One drawing would encompass my love of music, another piece would be all about ghosts and spooky images, another a trip to outer space and so on.
What has come out of my earlier exercises is a love of creating from total chaos. The blank page scares me, intimidates me and I ultimately over think a design. By letting loose and doodling a web of lines first, I am able to gave into the lines, think about the monster or world I want to create from the lines and begin. It's my world, my creatures and anything can happen in all the swirls, circles and jig jags formed by my initial chaotic exercise in free doodling. From the hysteria of my initial line doodles comes the following drawings I hope you enjoy.
My Groups: PENANDINKS, Doodles, BLUE, fairytales, line, BLACKandWHITE, Self-Taught
