Hi Jessica, That is a great question and a non compliant response does not suffice, so here I go. The heart and the soul of photography is your own "heart and soul". What are you passionate about. Sports? Landscapes? Gothic? Metaphorical? What do you think about that might get you up from a deep sleep to run to your office and jot down a few notes so when morning comes you remember. It isn't the equipment, it isn't the locales, it isn't the years in photography, it is the gut feeling of breaking out. It is the gut feeling where you "High five" yourself when know one is around when you just captured that one and only shot. Oh Yeah!!! All this being said, you still need to learn.. to study.. and as you are doing here.. review others work for inspiration. Dennis, as a professional how do you make yourself stand out? just starting out and hopefully going to school soon for photography, How can I stand out from the rest? like getting into magazines and things of that sort?
