Welcome to my artwork folder and thank you for looking!

I have always been inspired by the colors and textures found in nature, ( landscapes,water, rocks, skies, etc ). I am naturally drawn to the abstract qualities.
My painting process is very intuitive. I often begin with a color scheme, or even just one color and once that color hits my canvas it demands another color, another shape, another texture...it becomes a creative problem solving journey.


My new series is based solely on the awe inspiring textures found within various tree trunks. I was first drawn to the strangler fig tree (banyan), however I am discovering a plethora of fascinating textures and sculptural qualities in many other trees as well. At this point, i have almost 2000 photos of details from this subject

My process for this series is more 'traditional' as the artwork is much more 'representational'. The abstraction occurs in the proximity of the perspective. I have been discovering an endless source of beautiful, sensual, sculptural, textural compositions. Working from my photographs, I am creating larger that life, highly textural macros.
