All of my pieces are inspired by natural objects such as clouds, marble, plants, flowers, and tree limbs. All of my pieces are inspired by natural objects such as clouds, marble, plants, flowers, and tree limbs. I prefer a muted color palette with highlights of color from spectral light and iridescence effects in objects like mother of pearl shells and opals. I rarely have an idea of what the final piece will look like, I let the process define the journey. I remember several years ago I was playing around with a set of watercolors with a thick watercolor board in a tray of water. I started dropping various watercolors on the wet board and really liked the organic nature of the color blending that was happening all on its own. I then started splattering thick white paint and allowed it to blend with the other colors and it created such a beautiful combination. Recently I switched from using traditional media to a purely digital work format. That transition allowed me to work cleaner as well as providing more control over the overall look I am trying to achieve.
