About me

My intention as an artist is to create experiences that invoke the menacing contradictions existing within the dubiously humorous but disturbing. I envision my work as the obligatory laugh and the uncomfortable fear that follows a misunderstood joke. My intention is to produce objects that invoke both humor and unease, and in doing so, provoke a deeper awareness of how the comical and the repulsive can inhabit the same space. This duality has always fascinated me and consequently directed my artistic vision. Humor can be lost in translation and perception, and what may seem funny to some can disgust others. I anticipate the viewer experiencing these sensations, and hope to provoke a more conscious understanding of the complexity of why something is funny or disgusting.
