your art touches my heart and makes me believe in God....you have a way of capturing a persons soul.

Posted by canyonwind on December 19, 2011

I am glad that it touches your heart. Even better that it makes you believe in God . Each and every homeless person that I encounter , weather I give them change , food , ten bucks or just sit down and listen to them for a while . The parting words from them are always the same . " God Bless You ". And he has by just letting me meet these people . I always go away with my heart fuller than when I first got there.

Barry...your work is so, so wonderful! I absolutely love your captures of the homeless....what a wonderful way to bring light to people who are so overlooked by society...

Posted by canyonwind on July 11, 2011

I have been doing it for years . I have two books out with photography of them . They earn money this way and retain their self respect . I go by a couple of sayings . " Give a hand , take a hand , give a hug , get a hug ". They know that I will sit right down with them and have a very normal conversation with them . I don't care is they stink . Good Morning are my first words and second are you hungry . Then we go and eat , come back and I ask if they would like to EARN some money by being photographed . If they say no its no , but if its yes then I procede . The next day I bring them back a photo of themselves . Everyone on skid rowknows the photographer , POP's " Hold up a hand and someone will take it ".

Posted by sandrabauser on July 11, 2011

I became homeless once...I had to stand in line to get my one meal a day...It was a hard time, but I wouldn't change it for the world. It gave me a whole new perspective and respect for people who are down on their luck. I think everyone should have to step in their shoes at least once in a lifetime to learn to be thankful for everything you have and everyone in your life :)

Posted by canyonwind on July 12, 2011

I spewnt one monthe a year with them on the streets .

Well a little bit proud , but I am thankful for all the photographic knowledge he imparted ever since I was Seven until his death . I will never be the photographer he was , because he had so much patience . Going on 67 this month and would rather do my model photography . Some are already walking the runwats and one works for Victories Secret .

Came to know about your ancestors...via paolorlando...for certain you have a reason for being proud of...one of my great mystics of photography. Nice to meet you here. Rosa

Posted by canyonwind on July 09, 2011

Hey Rosie. You got some really rare ancestors ? My only claim to fame is my great uncle was Ansel Adams.

Posted by rosacobos on July 10, 2011

he, he, he, .....well.."rare" is not the exact word. I usually take attention to "information". And you gave a really interesting information...with a real interesting way of expressing...that showed some kind of "legitimate pride". And then, this info came to me in my own "soul´s way"...like myself saying.."wow!!!...cannot doubt he must have a real artship with photography...being the great nephew of such a wonderful and unique soul!!". So...to say..."my only claim..." is being really humble. There are some souls that would love to delete their origins in genetics, due to some really terrible circumstances. Not your case...you have reasons for being happy, proud and even take the legacy of this unique chance and make it grow and prosper. As far as I know...my ancestors are not "rare", not famous, or with such importance....but I do share genetical codes with artistic, original, and conflictive souls, and this has accounted for my own intersests...but mostly as in your case I am sure that it does not mean a lot if it is not joined to a constellation of will, passion, awakaning for our own powers, dedication, and a real enriching environ, or someone that would enrich it positively . To tell the truth...I am too proud of having met a Ansel Adams´s great nephew....and to tell others about it...How does it sound?

Posted by rosacobos on July 10, 2011

sorry..cliked the wrong botton.

Posted by rosacobos on July 10, 2011

I am mad to tell some people...."hey you know something..I am sharing "podium" of a gallery of art with Ansel Adam´s great nephew....and he is a damm good artist as well!!! how does it sound...then? Saludos from Bilbao..."The City of the Seagulls....Rosa
