Artist Statement:
I have defined my work to be many different styles. I really don’t like to pin point what I like to photograph. I just have crazy ideas and visually create them. I love portraits and applying my creative ideas and visions towards portraiture. The beauty of expression or body language adds concept to a photograph.
I love all different types of people photography, but I mainly inspire myself in portraiture. I love location shoots, studio set ups, and composed elements. My bigger dream would be to work for a circus or performance arts company. I have always been interested in drama, dance, and productions. I would like my own studio to create large or small composed sets of dancers and performance artists. I have always been inspired by the art of expression and dancing. My heart flows when I hear music or view a dance piece. Dancing is another dream of mine and I would love to use my photography skills to capture the divine art of body expression.
Landscape is also apart of my creative style. Either using landscape as the backdrop for my portraits or just on its own dramatic scene. I visualize huge giclee prints and surreal surroundings. Within this portrait series I wanted to combine the two, landscape and dance. This portrait series expresses more than just portraiture. It expresses illustrations and concepts other than just a pretty picture of a person. It involves the landscape with the subject and creates a more surreal presence. I have applied styles of perspective and a different point of view using different design elements and a constant framing technique. Visually there is a narrative concept within all images. This series is just the beginning of my journey to create "different" portraits. I create fantasies and create different worlds within this one using the shapes and shadows of the Earths self expressions.
We have been living amongst frail times. Art, music, and expression, are our tools to help us mend ourselves through such times. Hopefully our expressions never die with the dreams that are constantly destroyed or decayed. My goal is to show these dreams. MY dreams. My expressions of how I see the world. Either through portraits or landscapes I feel that my illustrations of expression will include both portraiture and landscape, for we are apart of the landscape whether we see our selves as apart of the earth or not. I tend to make that connection again within my personal style.
