Brian Martin earned his BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design and his MFA in Painting/Drawing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Aside from his personal artwork, he has been employed as an illustrator, graphic/web designer, muralist, and a decorative artist for a cabinet maker. He has taught drawing, painting and color/2D-design at I.U.P., but currently is teaching illustration, drawing and painting at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA.
Brian is represented by Principle gallery in Alexandria, VA and has exhibited his art nationally from Texas to New England and internationally in Autralia. In 2008 he was an artist in residence at the Johnstown Bottleworks in Johnstown, PA where he co-curated "Calm Americans", an exhibition of work by national and international painters. During winter of 2008-09, he participated in the select four-person exhibition, �Framed Reality�, at the Maryland Art Place in Baltimore, MD. He is a founding member of the artist group, The Broadstreetstudio(www.thebroadstreetstudio.com), which recently curated a 25 person exhibition at Principle Gallery in Alexandria, VA, an exhibition that was featured in January 2010�s issue of New American Art Collector Magazine. Most recently, he was featured in the March/April 2010 issue of Poets and Artists Magazine. In the meantime, Brian continues to paint, search for venues in which to exhibit, and enjoy life with his wife, Amy and son, Elliott, in Providence, RI.
