Homage to your favorite Blue Canvas artists

I wonder if we can organize a monthly/quartlery event in which we all choose to create a work of art that pays homage to our favorite peers. It's not meant to replicate or mimic the chosen artist, but by using our own voice and style, try and capture the essence or spirit of what we interpret in each other's work. Anyone interested?

I'm totally agree and I'm sorry the I just find this,hope is not late,but I like the Idea,count on me and please update me how is goin,love 'cause push and encourage each other without wait to see if we make it on the Mag,all we need is each other ,NOT be the flavor of the month..( I just know now,that I NEVER be on the Magazine EVER,but I'm a rebel,and I'll die with my booth on.)..-_-

It looks like there are 6 of us that are keen on this Idea. So now the next phase is let's choose which artist we would like to honor in this fashion, any suggestions?

I was thinking we all choose the same artist becasue then we can see how alll our different styles can present a similar statement/theme.

I'll accept the nomination to choose first, so I would like to pick brosio. His work is loaded with political and social meaning and I love the fact that thematically he is incorporating tornados, which again are loaded with meaning. Devestation, natural disaster, they are even called "the finger of God." Yet in the face of pure destruction people are going about their lives. Are they obvilious to the dangers that surround them? Has modern living dulled them so that they are apathetic? Are they welcoming destruction or are they so delluded that they think themselves invincible? All six of us have specific styles which can either support any one of those interprestations or something different all together. How does this sound?

I don't want to take too long becasue we might put it aside, not get to it, etc. but at the same time I don't want to rush it. Should we say one month? June 7th as a deadline. I will ask the currator how we can go about and have a group page to display.

I talked to the currator, they haven't incorporated groups yet, but we can do this. I will create a group account and email the password to all of us. That way we can each have access to upload the group work we create. So the next thing I need is everyone's email address so I can end you the password (email me at fzemenides@aol.com) but also a suggestion for what we should call our group!

Let's try and recruit a few others and create an actual event, perhaps we can ask the curator to help us organize and promote it.
