Night Ride.

Our coach rattled and jostled as it sped down the road, the harried driver urging the horses ever faster on their way. We sat in silence inside as the road made the carriage sway and rock with every tiny jostle. There wasn't anything more to say at this point, all we could do was wait and hope that we made it in time.
I rested my head against the window watching the land pass us by and wishing we had more speed. We would have to change horses again as soon as we came across another town. The thought sent a flash of annoyance lancing across my mind, horses alone would have carried us far faster than the carriage could. We were forced to waste precious time that we might not have.
The carriage struck a pothole and a strained cry came from the other seat pulling me from my thoughts. Crossing over I held his hand and stroked his hair, attempting to soothe and ease his pain. Looking out the window at the rain that had begun to fall again I closed my eyes and prayed for more time.

These little tidbits, vignettes are very enticing Morraha - you're a wonderfully descriptive writer! Lovely piece.
