Always and forever

those were the words

and yet my arms are empty

my hands unheld

my lips unkissed



would that my heart were unbroken

my hopes

my dreams

unfragmented



a handful of treasures

mementos remaining

dusty and alone

in a dark corner



at times i can almost

pretend

that i am fine

and halfheartedly smile



but then something will happen

and illusions will shatter

faded memories and tears

are all that exist
