ABOUT MEDIEVAL STYLE ART

In late 1991 I opened my studio for medieval style book illustration and calligraphy.
My illustrations and calligraphy pages are on the whole characterized and inspired by illuminated manuscripts of the gothic era.
In all my works I took the subtle connection of the characteristic lines of the playful and stylized medieval painting with my own ideas and contemporary subjects as my aim. So far I have taken part in a lot of exhibitions, mostly in German speaking areas, but also in neighbouring regions like France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and on the Chanel Island of Guernsey.
Apart from several "one-of-a-kind" books I created illustrations for various publications. Topic of my latest own project, titled "Im Bade - Eine Bilder-Zeitreise" ("In the Bath-house - A Picture-Time Travel") is the everyday life in medieval public baths. As usual it was my goal to depict the subject in strong colours and unusual compositions.
