I will be free
July 14, 2012
It seemed to be
Under control
A smile here
Agree there
So polite
Life seemed easier
Without conflicts
Why confront?
Better not
Speak up
I never realized
How destructive
Anger can be
When turned
Inwards
My soul needs more
It can not breath
Be happy
Or free
In anger
This silenced rage
Deserves a voice
I will confront
And I will
Speak up
And I will scream
Let it ALL out
Until all anger
Within me
Is set free
Then I will be free! And I will! :-)
This poem took me a week, finished today July 14th, 2012

Great work Mieke. Figuring out how to handle anger is one of the most difficult things, probably for most of us... I hope the process of writing this poem has begun the process of allowing voice to feelings that we are taught are "bad", only then can the healing begin.
Posted by terrapanthera on July 15, 2012
The process was actually started by looking at my anger and finding out that the 'triggers' of now are in fact old ones. That makes it possible to react in a completely different way. So the anger doesn't build up that easily anymore, plus ... I don't feel I have to avoid conflicts anymore, plus ... the old anger can be released (I looooove to scream in the car, ha). All good things! Difficult, but good :-) Thanks Fred, I appreciate your comments more than you know. xxx

I relate to every word, Miek! So much, I understand this so well. I feel I need to scream it all out!
Posted by terrapanthera on July 15, 2012
Then do so! :-) Get in the car, put the music on loud and SCREAM! Yay! That makes me feel sooooooooo much better. We forgot how to get our deepest emotions out, but you will remember! Thanks dear Alli! xxxxxx

Oh my Lord Miek - that middle stanza about the destructiveness of anger turned inward is so profound. Your writing always reaches me at some level beyond and beneath my immediate reaction. Your insights are so wise - we must own and acknowledge all our emotions, even the negative ones before we can let them go so we truly can be free. Love this Miek. xox

My dear Lianne, THANK YOU! I've had the luck to find some really wise people on my path. Anger turned inside is very destructive. It's impossible to smile when you're full of anger or hate. Although many of us can put up a facade, which is of course a way of 'survival'. One that can last a long long time without collapsing .... xoxoxox

Lovely write Mieke ... anger does hurt all involved ... rant, vent, get it out of your system - that's what I do.

Thanks so much Cathy. I'm working on it :-)
