Go back, Save, Delete
April 21, 2012
In the computer world
we erase, go back, go
back, save, upload,
comment, delete.
Do we live on a flat screen
of life... of erase, go back
save, comment, reply, upload
or delete?
Time ticks, moments come
moments gone in the round.
Love and friendships gained
or lost and cannot be erased.
Their memories remain in us
locked in, good or bad.
Life cannot be saved
and put in a bottle
to keep as if it was a commodity.
We snap pictures, but in that
very moment they are gone
and only a memory is left.
We create to freeze the moments,
but is our life made up of our creations,
or is it something deeper that has touched
the lives of others or those lives
have touched us in the end.
Maybe for some that is all they
have their world of computers.
Maybe the people around them
can't relate as well as those
on the other side of the screen.
A tactile world seems forgotten
on a larger scale in our time.
Closed off to only the iphone,
ipad or computer.
I walked into Starbucks and
everyone I could see was involved
in their laptops, iphones
ipads. I saw one woman
knitting and I asked her
"Now that is something you don't see"
she said, "People don't do
this anymore." I said, "people
don't do a lot of things anymore."
At that moment I saw a picture of
thousands of people with a noose around
their necks pulling them to this "new"
computer screen in front and yet at
the same time the noose was pulling the people
back to older dead computers.
They were treading on a treadmill
believing they were going some where
only to the screen in front of them.
The world is round, my heart
is flesh, my arm is flesh, my eyes
see without the light of a computer
my mind stores more than a computer
could store. My heros are those that
have lived in hardship, conquered their
demons and some w/o a machine and
only an inner strength to pull them out.
The best of times….
The worst of times...
