Fly Away

In the comfort of my mind
I know you well
inside and out
Together we explore our minds
our hearts and our bodies
In joy we share of ourselves and bask
in the glow of each other
In the comfort of my mind
there is no doubt
no fear
no recriminations
Just two beautiful souls wanting to explore
life
Simply wanting to merge and separate,
merge and separate
In the comfort of my mind
I reveal you layer by layer
Relieving you of your flesh and bones
uncovering your inner light
I gently fold away your skin
taking care not to tear or fray it
I firmly push back the obstacle of your ribcage
And finally
with loving care
I scoop you out with my hands
and releasing you, I watch you fly away,
fly away

Thanks Morraha. This is my favorite of my poems. Sadly it was written for the same person as "A Farewell Poem", so I guess my inner poet saw things that the rest of me only understood months later.

Oh Frederique - again, you leave me with no words at all for the exquisite beauty of your words. I can so relate to this, know it to be the true heart of intimacy. And it's so very hard to learn the most important lesson of all - that what we love this much, we must set free. How very beautiful this is.
