Go Figure
January 03, 2011
The human body with all of its uniqueness and individual characteristics is a beautiful thing. I'm not talking about gender prejudices or sexual connotations here. The human form whether male or female is one of the most expressive images the artist can portray. There is no ugly, thin, fat, tall, short body that makes for an uninteresting exploration.
I personally have drawn the figure to acquire drawing skills but also attempt to draw out the soul of the person in the pose. I attempt, which I say in a humble way, to draw out that individual personality or even an implied personality in a particular pose. To try to make a drawing, painting, print, or photo that draws from the spirit within the model.
To my preference the model that tries to evoke such a drama or ambience I relish in the challenge and if I succeed it is truly an epiphany if not I have learned a lot about the art of drawing and the human body!
