Description: For a different perspective on this piece http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregory_d/2465179501/
This piece was an experiment in moving the female torso through 90 degrees. I cut 24 blocks of Tasmanian Myrtle and mitred the ends to produce the 90 degree arc. The pieses were then temporally joined and the figure carved. The sculpture was then disassembled and 10 mm (3/8") was removed from the back of each alternate piece giving an interesting chequeboard effect. This piece won First Prize in a Newcastle (Australia) competition in 2007.
