Description: The Hacienda “San Ildefonso Teya” is located in the town of Teya, six miles east of Mérida. It was founded in 1683 by Doña Ildefonsa Antonia Marcos Bermejo Calderón y de la Helguera. For two centuries the hacienda was devoted to cattle ranching, as well as growing corn until the 19th century when it changed to the cultivation of the henequén plant. It was abandoned in the first half of the 20th century and purchased in 1974 by its current owner Don Jorge Cardenas Gutierrez. He rebuilt the hacienda from 1987 to 1991 and converted it a beautiful inn and opened one of the most popular restaurant in Yucatán so far. The hacienda has also made quite a business out of hosting events given its stunning setting.
