Description: -This is the first piece in a series entitled "Portraits of the DSM" where each piece highlights a specific, psychological disorder. The text in the background and the diagnostic code at the bottom were taken directly from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Psychological Disorders IV-Text Revision. This piece represents the most severe form of depression and is expressed through color choice, facial expression, and background text. Combinations of drip art and art nouveau were used to create the shape.
