Image details
Description: On the mid-north coast of NSW just south of Coffs Harbour lies the small town of Urunga, nestled on the banks of the Bellinger and Kalang Rivers. Anyone travelling on the Pacific Highway between Sydney and Brisbane will have passed through this small town, but probably didn’t even give it a second glance. Such a pity. It’s a lovely, quiet little town blessed with natural beauty. Dotted along the banks of both rivers are mangroves. I took this photo on the Kalang River, just beneath the Urunga Rail Bridge.
Mangroves are by nature very surreal places and lend themselves beautifully to the abstract form. I’ve maintained the abstract theme and have tried to give this image a strong sense of fluidity, marrying together the ever shifting light and flowing water. Did it work? You be the judge. (Alien Infrared B&W with a gentle lowering of the white balance temperature.)
Photo taken with Canon IXUS 80 IS and edited with Lightzone. SIMPLICITY is my niche!
