Description: Litoria Chloris (Red-eyed green tree frog). Photo taken November 2011 on Tambourine Mtn QLD Australia
Title from the movie ALIENS (1986) as quoted by the character Newt: “We’d better get back, ‘cause it’ll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night… mostly.” It's certainly true of frogs, have no doubts.
These little guys are really little guys; they’d just about fit into a matchbox, but the noise generated from such small creatures is astounding – in fact, it is deafening! These are two of half a dozen frogs present at the time, and have just had a swim in the pool with their little party mates. Now it’s time for the croaking competition before the next swim, and the competition is called ‘Who can be the noisiest little bastard and keep these weird looking monkeys awake all night long?’ They did too, but they are so cute!
With the exception of minor contrast adjustments, some gaussian blur on the background and pool tiles to reduce some grain noise, and cropping, this photo is pretty much straight out of the camera. I spent no more than 5 minutes editing, it was that simple. The photo was taken at night with flash, and is a good effort (even if I do say so myself) considering the camera is just a ‘point and shoot’. I rarely do night photography; it’s just too bloody dark LOL, but I’m glad I made an effort on this occasion. PS: I originally posted this photo in B&W, but after some time I felt it needed colour, so here it is :D
Photos taken with Canon IXUS 80 IS and minor editing with Lightzone. SIMPLICITY is my niche!
They mostly come at night... mostly...
