Description: The eyeballs in the mural are just a way for me to relate the painted image to the act of looking. The mirrored floor, and the other artwork call attention to the viewer and their act of viewing as part of the work. The viewer recreates the way the room looks as they move about the space, so their perception and experience in the room is part of the work. Also, the painted image refers to my paintings on stage as part of a Memphis band, the Warble, and is a way to relate the two opposing environments. Painting as part of a live band, usually at a crowded bar at night, and painting in the quite, usually white studio are both created situations, but the viewer experiences one and has to imagine the other.
