Description: Acrilic on canvas
Florbela Espanca portrait, one of the greatest Portuguese poets.
Forerunner of the feminist movement in Portugal, had a tumultuous life, restless, transforming their suffering intimate poetry of the highest quality, full of eroticism and femininity.
Florbela was different than Portuguese women of his time in tastes, studies, work, behavior and relationships with men throughout his life. Florbela was aware of that difference, and it felt so proud and superior.
The poetry of Florbela is characterized by recurring themes of suffering, loneliness, disillusionment, coupled with an immense tenderness and a desire for happiness and fulfillment that can only be achieved in the absolute infinity. The passionate vehemence of his language, remarkably personal, focused on their own frustrations and anxieties, is often an erotic sensuality.
It is the great woman in the early decades of the twentieth century Portuguese literature.
Her real name is Flor Bela de Alma da Conceição
