Description: As artists many of us are quite familiar with such things as depression, bipolar, or other mental extremes. I hesitate to call them disorders or illnesses because so many times some very wonderful things come out of our despair or our other extremes. I'm not saying it's fun or even easy. I just like to think of it as a 'condition'. A condition that I have to take meds for. lol! How's that for contradictory! This is one of 'those' days where I just finished sobbing, in a corner, on the floor. (If you think that's bad you should have seen me after my MRI. Yikes, was that an ugly scene!) Most of the time the depression end is just dark to one degree or another. I'll make it through. I have so far so no worries.
Self Portrait taken with my little Lumix DMC-FS7 on a tripod. Both of which were given to me by a friend who decided I had a little potential as a photographer.
Sometimes It's Just So Dark

Kari, this is so well done, so powerful, so packed with emotion it is palpable. Very well done my friend

It sounds so contradictory, but I am glad you can sense the emotion. Thank you very much.

Out of all your work this really struck a chord! You are speaking out so others may have the courage and also not feel alone!

Thank you! It seemed so important to do this piece. Now I think I know why thanks to your comment. Thanks. It was an "at the moment" shot!

sometimes it is that darker side of us that feeds the light and makes the world a brighter place, as seen through our darker eyes, wonderful piece Kari, Love 'N' Laughter Kriss

Yes, the darker side feeds us well. When I'm in that space in between (you know-socially acceptable where people aren't telling you you're talking too loud or something? Never happened to you? Well then...) many times it feels as if I'm missing a part of me. Strange to think about when the pain is so much.

And thank you.

Oops, I see that Rose mentioned that as well. Well, we seem to think alike;-)

HUGS TO YOU BOTH!!

Oh, this is sooooooo incredibly beautiful! I found out that we are actually the STRONGEST !!! We as in the people with mental 'issues'..... We often survive so much more than others and still see light. Well done love! x

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I know they say we come out stronger but most of the time I don't feel any different. Of course, I don't know how "normal" people feel in their heads and emotions so I really have nothing with which to compare. Right now, I don't see the light. But it's out there somewhere. Yes, I do think so many of us think alike. :)

A moving SP dear Kari- vulnerable and brave- the paradoxes of life are the truths that strike me most ... To call something an "illness" is to apply a handle, and sometimes it works to open a door on possibilities, and other times it just jams... I have always found that every "illness" held for me new lessons and challenges, and opportunities I would never have realised had I have been fully functional at the time....in terms of paradox, often wehn we feel our weakest and most overpowered, we might in fact look back and realise it was sheer strength of spirit or survival that pulled us through. Thank-you for posting such an honest work xxx

Thank you, Rose for your comment. Yes, new challenges, new lessons. Fully functional (I've called it "socially acceptable" has it's own set of issues--non of which feel creative yet I know I've been creative in those times as well. Perhaps not with such emotion. I'm pleased that emotions showed through.
