...words get in the way

Thank-You for looking at my art and the stars. I love this piece- The layers work so well to show emotion. Interesting the way closed eyes can still be effective.

A very wise and thoughtful piece, Rosie. Wish we could all get together for wine and dinner on a beach somewhere. I could use some sparkling conversation. I'm imagining everyone I love here just spontaneously walking on to a beach from different directions and meeting in person for the first time and throwing out some blankets and hauling out the candles and wine. I can hear the laughter.
beautiful idea and so true, love the added water droplets because so often when words get in the way, much emotion and tears can be involved
Words oftentimes get in the way. Artists help us by making a visual story where mere words would perhaps be woefully insignificant.
I'm so impressed with your use of the digital media. My 13 year old daughter is working on graphics and illustration projects as her at-home portion of her education. Any tips on good, concise, simple tutorials for her to learn the art of turning photography into digital creations?
Gary I am so touched by your question- and a big hullo to your daughter and you! I am afraid I have been a right-brain learner since childhood, and this was encouraged by my Dad in me... so you know- little logical approach, and lots of adventure and intuition. At 13 I was going to bed with Graphis Annuals and photography books and just filling up my "tanks" with beautiful creations...as far as what you see here, I use mostly my own shots, unless acknowledged layers added, and PSE(photoshop elements) with a couple of plug-ins that include Topaz. The concept of working with layers really opened up for me once I learned Orton effect, and from there it is lots of looking around at art, design, and then just working intuitively, and only posting art here that has personal significance . I imagine if I was going to be commercially driven, I would have to approach this very differently. However from 17-49, the creative side was largely dormant in me. So I regret this may not be the reply you wished for, but I do wish your daughter great success and reward in her chosen field. I would welcome hearing back from either or both of you how she proceeds:)
Just for the record, this is the link to the Orton tutorial that unlocked for me my understanding of working in photoshop layers...i no longer use this effect much, but really, it is the one tutorial that was pivotal...:) http://pcin.net/update/2006/11/01/the-orton-effect-digital-photography-tip-of-the-week/
This tutorial is almost embarrassingly simple... heh heh(blushing).. but the path for me has often involved quite simple keys like that :))
Again - I'm just completely appalled that I missed this incredibly beautiful image Rosie - for some reason I thought I'd commented long ago but perhaps that was when you used some of this for Xpress. It looks somehow totally new, touching, very poignant...and the title is just so perfect as yours always are. xoxox

This is deeply understood and heartfelt...love the colours and emotions! What a beautiful image and banner used for the BLUE Group!
I have left my tears outside my window lids. Some promise has been broken, but I cannot hear any echo of it. Am I sleeping in fractions of reality? You can deliver your gifts outside the door....I will let the wind sweep the fragance of your memory and touch with awe the moving dance of your written heart.
Rosa, Mick and I have been deeply touched with your beautiful writing- huge thanks and hugs!!! Your words are very special to us....xxx
Rosie, I'm so taken with this image and work for the BLUE Group. I emotonally connect to this image.
