Thank-You !!!! You're looking at my art right now. We're online together : A mutual admiration society :)
My process is never conceptual, in the sense where I rarely know what sort of personality will emerge. Seeing as how you're an Army Officer maybe you absolutely need to know where you're headed, otherwise people could be in danger ? I'm wondering if drawing cartoons could be a welcome relief from a highly structured work environment ?
It's more a case of applying structure- I often wander around until I get an interesting result with no clear goal, but the army stuff REALLY helped with self-discipline, sticking to deadlines, etc. I'm done with the army stuff nowand exploring new avenues.....
'' Exploring new avenues ''- Now I'm curious. Having self-discipline is one of my biggest problems, in the sense where it's difficult to get off-task when I'm painting and sometimes going too far when I should have stopped.
I'm had some modest publishing/illustrating success, so I do that and work at a non-profit.. how about you?
At this point I've had no success with selling my art. I'm working very hard to get together a body of work. Everything is all self-taught. For two years I'm teaching myself to paint portraits.
I don't think we've met yet, but any friend of Rosie's is a friend of mine ;-) Congratulations for getting on Amazon's "Hot New Releases" list! I will have to come back and explore your virtual portfolio!
