I am a painter, originally from Glasgow, Scotland and transplanted to Southern California in the late nineties.
Blessed to live in a beautiful nature reserve a few miles from the Californian coast half way between Los Angeles and San Diego in Orange County, with my husband, with whom I have raised six children, and am still madly in love, a small, slightly deformed dog called snickerdoodle (supposedly a schnoodle, but I suspect runt is a better description) and the youngest of our collective brood who is a remarkable and surprisingly un-moody teenager.
I recently completed an MFA at Laguna College of Art and Design in Figurative Painting where I had the privilege of working with a number of outstanding artists such as Sharon Allicotti, Wes Christensen, D.J Hall, Kathryn Jacobi, Perin Mahler and Pamela Wilson. My undergraduate degree was from Glasgow School of Art, quite some time before Jenny Saville, though I do remember her degree show even now. I now spend my time cooking, eating and drinking mainly red wine as can be seen by the many empty glasses in my paintings, entertaining as often as possible, painting, drawing and travelling.
My favourite saying is “You only regret the things you DON”T do" and, with a glass of wine in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, I do my best to live by that credo.
