P. G. = Polished Garbage
abstractapart Replied: March 02, 2010
I have clever response for this one too. All great art must go through the garbage phase at some point in it's life. Whether at the beginning when it's just a bunch of scrap in separate places, waiting to be put together, or if garbage is essentially the purpose of an artwork, or the artwork becomes garbage because of long time decay. You can apply your phrase regarding my art to any of these stages. Do it if you can...I won't mind.

As are all things in this ever consuming and ever recycling universe, the work is technically garbage. All things on this planet will one day be garbage. However, you clearly were not implying that, but attacking the work as something to be discarded; refuse. For what reason do you dismiss it so? You are more than free to disagree, disapprove or even be disgusted by any work of art, however it benefits all of humanity if you articulate your thoughts and explain why you dismiss it so.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's a strict necessity that a great piece of art be bullshit to somebody, otherwise it's not art...actually something like that can't even exist.
fotioszemenides Replied: March 12, 2010
One has to understand and define bullshit first. Read Harry Frankfort’s essay “On Bullshit” it is rather illuminating. I would respectfully disagree with both of you that this work is definable by any means as bullshit. It is an attempt to discover truth. It can succeed or fail miserably, like much art does, but it is actively seeking understanding, therefore it cannot be bullshit. The lie is the complete opposite of the truth, it cannot exist without it; they are polar opposites. That means that the liar, by default, is acknowledging truth and therefore is its equal. Bullshit, however, is that which does not know the truth and does not even bother to seek it out. It is a delusion brought about by ignorance and apathy. You can argue that the work fails at what it sets out to do, but you cannot claim that it is bullshit.

I really like the fluid nature of your paintings. Raining, swirling, flowing. Everything seems to be in motion, with each painting suggesting an entirely different direction of flow than the last. They each indicate sets of emotions based on the color and direction of flow and even speed of flow. Good luck, keep painting!

I read your blog. I do appreciate your artwork. It's very colorful and something I haven't seen before. But, I think you should try some new things. Reach outside of your box and comfort zone. I know that I personally have trouble with that so it's probably hypocritical of me to say this. But that's my advice to you. Besides that nice job

p.s initialy i thought your paintings were some kind of oil slides..like you had mixed fluids and they found their own form..but now im not so sure.what is your technique? do you create these patterns yourself?they remind me of 'marble ink'..see im inquisitive now..
abstractapart Replied: February 04, 2010
It's a marbling effect created with regular acrylic paint. I experimented with the technique quite a bit before arriving at a pretty steady process I was pleased with. These paintings are mostly poured, but the paint must be poured correctly--along with the correct amount of medium in order not to drop thousands of dollars on paint.

i just liked your work very much. do i have to explain why? i think i can't )
abstractapart Replied: January 26, 2010
Ah...there are so many things which we can't explain. Your explanation for explaining that you can't explain something is a great explanation to me. It sounds weird, but it's true. Thanks for your input.

:) but that's usually the case with beautiful art. unexplainable)

THANKS FOR STARS... GREAZI EXPRESSION ART...
ricardo_martinez  Posted: January 23, 2010
After reading your clever blog entry "Leaving Sophisticated Comments" I´d like to explain my ideas about my "amazing colours" phrase I posted in your message board. It´s my personal point of view that perception allows us to discriminate colours and shapes, and they both are expressions of light. Because of this approach to art my palette is usually so "colorful" as yours (al least, this is what I try). The reason I love so much your artworks is because I share your fascination for colours, the difference is that you achieve so high level of expression that a few brushstrokes allow you to express a complete idea, landscape, feeling.
abstractapart Replied: January 23, 2010
I looked at your paintings and I understand the idea you are trying to express regarding color. Yes, our own individual perceptions play an important role, and determine how sensitive one can be to a certain color--some people are more sensitive to yellow than blue, for example. I too, share your philosophy regarding color. Expressive painters must think in terms of color above anything else. I have always said that we feel in color rather than through objects. Good luck with your future artworks, and thanks for reading.

Glad you like it. You're right...I need to branch out in style a little bit. Although this isn't even half of my work, I've sort of matured with this style. I need to develop some of my other styles as well. Thanks again.
